Background
I lived in Brisbane, Australia, until I was 17, then my Dad got a job in Richmond and now I attend SFU Surrey. I plan on being here until I finish my degree, then I'll head on back to Australia. I have a passion for game developing and art, but not art as in "Hey wow the Mona Lisa", more as in, "Hey, that looks cool. I want to draw it." In total I have made three games solo, two of which ("Beaver Warrior", a story of a purple beaver looking for treasure in a dungeon, and one other game that I didn't really get around to naming but was basically a 2D shooter) are now no longer with us. The third, named "Space" I still have, but in testing it just now it seems not to work with my monitor. Hmm. Well, I did make it in VB6, so who knows what happened.
Education
From the top shall we. I attended Bundamba State School until probably the second grade but was "too clever", so my parents sent me to Karalee State school until grade 4, when we moved houses. I then went to Moggill State school for a bit, graduated (if you can really call it that), and spent the entirety of my high school years at Kenmore State High School. I graduated in 2008 and now attend Simon Fraser University and am in my first year of SIAT. I plan to pwnz0r the game industry with the skills I am yet to acquire, including how to use Maya or whatever.
Active Game Projects
I did write a minuscule text-based adventure game in Python (because Python is fun) that I work on now and then.
Art Skills
Some say I can draw, others that they've seen better. I'm pretty good with the old Photoshop (or Gimp if you use Linux…whcih you should) as well.
Concept art
I whip out a picture or two if the mood takes me. I might do a couple and link to them in the future.
3D Modeling
I made a solid 2 minute short film in high school using only Blender and hours and hours of work. It turned out ok. I've also made some good quality concept buildings in Cinema 4D.
Audio Skills
I play piano, so I'm alright when it comes to music. I sing as well. Real singing, not that death metal stuff.
Design Skills
I like to design. I've made a few Far Cry and Halo 3 maps and really like creating things from my mind.
Mechanic Design
How things work with other things, keeping people interested in what they're doing…it's all part of what makes a good game.
Level Design
I actually designed most of the levels for my friend's year 11 VB6 game, and that was really interesting. How I guide the players into solving a problem or hit a plot point is what I like to do in this regard.
Programming Skills
Visual Basic 6
I'm by no means a pro, but I did learn it for 2 years and didn't do too badly.
Python
I've taken a real liking to Python, but I don't think I'm cut out to be a hard-core programmer. I do what I have to do to survive.
Java
I speak it. Give me a tutorial to polish it up a bit and I can do stuff with it.
Writing
Story Fabrication
I've won a few awards for writing, just little ones, but I did make $100 for rattling off a poem one time. Easiest money I've ever made. I'm usually in the process of writing one novel or another, but they take so darn long to do, most of the time I give up. Not this time though! This time I'll finish it! Just give me a few years…
Script Writing
I wrote he script for the movie "Nightstalker". Perhaps you've heard of it? No? Well that's probably because I made it in high school. Written, directed and produced by me. I don't think it was really that good, to be honest, but I did get an A+ for it.
Languages
I speak German all right I guess, aber ich muss es mehr benutzen, als ich es besser sprechen kann. (I have no idea whether that was right or not.)
Signature Game
Probably…
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, just because I got every single achievement, was the head honcho of every guild and have basically 100 for every stat, if not over (175 for strength, for example). Or maybe…
Fallout 3, which is also a good game. Still Can't find that Alien Blaster though… *EDIT: I totally found it. Internet tutorials are good like that.
