Idea for March 27, 2008

Theme: Love and Deceit

includes topics that expand on the theme

Genre: Poorly defined adventure RPG

game genre with possible significant changes or important points

  • A text-based adventure RPG relying on deceit and treachery

individual gameplay mechanics and mechanics categorized by system

  • Lie Meter/Reputation Meter:
    • The player possesses a Lie and Reputation Meter
    • Using too many lies (or at least poorly told ones) harms your reputation, while being too honest hurts your own ability to lie convincingly
  • A notebook is required (in real life) to track comments and more?

narrative elements concerning plot, characters, world

  • Setting:
    • Typical fantasy world
    • Game begins in a village that acts as the tutorial area of the game
    • The main game takes place in the castle
    • Player journeys to other realms such as neighbouring towns, villages, and even other kingdoms
  • The Player:
    • You are an advisor to the King of your kingdom
    • Your goal is to ultimately take over the kingdom … through whatever means available
    • Ideally, your goal is to acquire both power and wealth
    • Deceit and treachery will be needed to accomplish this
    • One possible means may be to marry the princess of the kingdom
  • Idea: one ending may reveal that the princess is actually a prince in disguise
  • A sufficient amount of accumulated wealth and power may also reveal a super surprise ending … if anything is more surprising than your wife during out to be your husband
